Local checks and cleanup

Hushtrail processes checks and cleanup on your Mac. No account, analytics SDK, advertising or automatic history upload is used. It does not read document, media or chat contents. It parses required history structure locally without opening referenced documents, displaying history names or logging history values. Leftovers uses app/component identities and file metadata; selected preference validation uses system tools with their output discarded.

What stays on your Mac

Hushtrail remembers chosen app identities, folder choices, access bookmarks and appearance preferences. Discovered cleanup lists are not saved. Temporary operation journals may contain exact paths and file identities until verification completes. Experimental Recents also temporarily records use-time attributes to recover from interrupted work. Unresolved operations can retain these records until addressed. These records are not file-content backups.

What cleanup changes

Selected leftovers move to macOS Trash. Hushtrail does not empty Trash or provide a private backup/restore archive. Recent lists and playback history may be irreversibly cleared; original documents and media are kept. Experimental chosen-folder Recents temporarily moves eligible local files, then returns and verifies them.

Support you choose to contact

Opening the support sheet sends nothing. Opening its Tally form sends the visible Hushtrail version/build, macOS version, product and entry-point markers and, for an app-specific request, that selected app’s name and Bundle ID in the URL. This happens when the page opens, before submitting a message. The message and optional reply email are supplied by you. No history, document paths, logs or full app inventory are attached automatically.

Email opens an editable draft; Hushtrail does not send it. GitHub Issues are public. Use email for private questions and avoid including private files, paths or credentials. Contact me@jaminzhou.com about information you have submitted.

External services

GitHub hosts downloads, release notes and this website; Tally hosts the feedback form. These providers may receive ordinary connection information when you visit, under their respective GitHub and Tally privacy policies. Links open after user action. macOS can independently contact Apple for signing/notarization checks or diagnostics according to your system settings.

Permissions

Full Disk Access can be needed for selected app histories. Administrator authorization may be requested for a specific system-list reset or read-only component check. These permissions are handled by macOS, are not treated as permanent, and do not trigger a startup or whole-disk scan.
