Hushtrail Privacy Policy

Effective date: May 24, 2026

This Privacy Policy applies to Hushtrail for macOS, including the Mac App Store and TestFlight versions.

Summary

Hushtrail works locally on your Mac. The app does not require an account, advertising identifiers, analytics SDKs, tracking SDKs, or a developer-run backend for its core cleanup flow.

Information Hushtrail does not collect

Information stored locally on your device

Hushtrail stores information locally so the app can scan only folders you authorize and keep cleanup reversible. Depending on the features you use, this may include:

This information stays on your device and is not sent to the developer by Hushtrail.

Authorized folder access

Hushtrail is sandboxed. It can inspect only folders you choose or folders macOS otherwise allows the app to access. The app uses those selected locations to enumerate files, match cleanup rules, explain candidates, and archive eligible user-level items into rollback storage.

Browser and privacy trace handling

Hushtrail may show browser-related privacy traces only when they are inside folders you authorized. Browser-owned data is blocked while the related browser is running or when the running state is unknown. Some mixed-purpose files, such as Firefox places.sqlite, remain scan-only in the current beta because they can contain bookmarks as well as history.

Network activity

The core Hushtrail app does not require sign-in, a remote account, or a developer-run network service. TestFlight and Mac App Store distribution are provided by Apple and may involve Apple services outside Hushtrail's local cleanup flow.

Support requests

If you contact support by email, the information you choose to send, such as your email address, app version, macOS version, screenshots, and message contents, will be used only to respond to your request and improve support quality.

Please do not send private browser database contents, passwords, cookies, or full unredacted sensitive file paths.

Third-party services

If you use a third-party email provider or another external service to contact support, your information may also be subject to that service's own terms and privacy practices. The Mac App Store and TestFlight are operated by Apple.

Children's privacy

Hushtrail is not directed to children, and the app does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. Any updates will be posted on this page with a revised effective date.
