FIRE Privacy Policy

Updated October 16, 2026

This policy covers FIRE on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch and its optional feedback channels. The developer is Jamin Zhou.

Your goal stays yours

FIRE stores the amounts and currency you enter, your goal, note, confirmed records, milestones and optional planning information on your device. It does not connect to banks or brokerages, require a FIRE account, run advertising or send analytics to a developer-operated service. Device preferences stay on that device.

Optional iCloud sync

When you enable sync, goal data, planning information and record history are stored in your private CloudKit database under your Apple Account. Sync is off by default. The app uses an encrypted payload field; this is not an unconditional end-to-end encryption claim. The developer does not receive or browse your private goal records. Sync occurs while the app is active, not as a guaranteed real-time background service. Turning it off leaves local and cloud copies in place; an in-flight transfer may finish. FIRE does not currently offer an in-app cloud-record deletion control.

Widgets, Watch and reminders

Widgets read shared local data on the same device. Sending to Apple Watch transfers a snapshot only when you choose. Review reminders are scheduled locally with system permission. FIRE has no manual hide-details setting or app lock. Information can remain visible in the app, screenshots and app-switcher previews; widgets respect system privacy redaction.

Feedback you choose to send

Email drafts and localized Tally forms are optional. Opening a form passes the product name, app version, build, system version and app language shown in the app, plus the technical request information needed by the browser and Tally. Goal amounts, notes, screenshots, logs and stable device identifiers are not attached automatically. Feedback text, reproduction steps and an optional reply email reach us only when you submit. The forms have no file-upload field, partial submissions or save-for-later feature. We use submitted information to understand problems and reply, not for advertising or tracking.

Optional support purchases

Apple handles purchase, payment and restoration through StoreKit. FIRE starts product loading and transaction checks only after you enter Support FIRE, not at app startup. FIRE verifies transactions and displays the supporter badge; we do not operate a payment server or receive card details. The badge is not included in goal sync or Watch snapshots. Apple processes purchase information under its own privacy policy.

Retention and your choices

You control the data you enter and whether sync, reminders or feedback are enabled. Removing the app does not necessarily remove existing iCloud copies. Feedback is retained as needed to investigate and respond; there is no automatic deletion schedule. Contact me@jaminzhou.com to request access to or deletion of feedback we hold. Do not send financial data with that request.

Website and providers

The public FIRE pages are static pages hosted by GitHub Pages. They do not embed analytics or advertising; the hosting provider may process technical access logs. Links to Apple and Tally open external services governed by their own policies. Material policy changes will be reflected here.
