What to include

Frequently asked questions

Can GarlicBird scan barcodes or fetch product prices automatically?

No. GarlicBird 1.0.0 focuses on manual unit price calculation, product comparison, discount calculation, history, custom units, currency reference, and structured Siri or Shortcuts calculation.

Why are exchange rates unavailable?

GarlicBird uses ExchangeRate-API for reference exchange rates. If the network is unavailable or the exchange-rate service cannot be reached, the app may show cached rates or keep results in the original currency.

Are exchange rates financial advice?

No. Exchange-rate conversion is provided for shopping reference only. Rates may be delayed, cached, or unavailable, so final purchase decisions remain yours.

Where is my history stored?

Calculation history is stored locally on your device. GarlicBird does not require an account and does not sync history to a developer server.

How do custom units work?

You can create custom units for recurring shopping scenarios. Custom units are stored locally and are grouped by compatible categories such as item count, weight, and volume.

How do I change the app language?

GarlicBird follows the iOS system app-language setting. Open iOS Settings, find GarlicBird, and choose a preferred language if your iOS version and installed app localization support it.

What does Siri or Shortcuts support?

The current Siri and Shortcuts support is structured unit-price calculation with product name, total price, quantity, currency, and unit. It is not a natural-language shopping assistant.

Does GarlicBird support iPad, Mac, or Apple Watch?

The first App Store version is iPhone-only. Broader Apple platform support is planned as future work after the initial iOS release.
